To begin this post, I would like to really say that I love San Diego Zoo. The first tme I went there with my husband was when I was pregnant with my first child. The next visit, we brought our son with us who was turning 2 at that time. Our recent visit was memorable since I am pregnant again with our second child plus my family from PH was here to see the zoo with us.

It was about an hour and a half drive from Chino Hills to the zoo. It’s nice to go for a quick road trip with family but can be a be a little hard especially if you have kids but it is worth it. We went the day before we head back to Portland and it fell on my husband’s birthday. So we kind of celebrated his birthday there with the zoo animals. 🙂 The traffic was not bad going there but it was going home because it was rush hour.

First things first once you enter the park: get a map. The zoo is huge and you definitely need a map so you know where you are going. My family didn’t realize how big the zoo is once they saw the map. There are lots of animal to see so you also really need to wear comfortable shoes. For the first timers – mom, dad, brother, niece and cousin they had no idea that it was going to be a whole day of walking.

The zoo closed their panda exhibit and we were lucky enough to be able to see them again one last time. The line was long but definitely worth it to see them for the last time. They went back home to their mother country – China last month. Not sure if they will have another panda exhibit in the future.

It was indedd another great day! We capped off our day with some ice cream at Hubbard’s which was really delicious. Everybody was tired but it was definitely worth it. We’re probably going to come back in a couple of years.
